Google “stop snoring” and you will get over 1 000 000 results for your search. The market of snoring remedies is a big business. If you are a snorer and are looking for a solution, you can’t be blamed if you feel confused and a little overwhelmed when you have to decide which treatment or a device will you use for your snoring. I will represent one device, snoring nasal strips, to see if it can provide proper help to cure your snoring.
What are snoring nasal strips?
Small bands of plastic embedded in an adhesive are the most common type of snoring nasal strips among all the various brands and types of these snoring remedies. Unlike most of the snoring remedies snoring nasal strips do not require prescription, so they are available directly over the counter. They are disposable and are priced very reasonably.
The way they work:
These strips keep your nostrils open and therefore give you possibility to breathe easily. They are drug-free, mechanical devices specially designed for this purpose. They are placed across the nose just before going to bed and are worn during whole night. The sides of the nose are lifted by the strips' attempt to straighten, providing free air flow through your nasal passages, therefore helping you to get rid of snoring noise.
Can they be the right solution for you?
To be frank, “it depends.” They may turn out to be the right choice for you, if you often suffer from allergies or nasal congestion. Snoring nasal strips might not work very well if your snoring is caused by extended condition in nature like a deviated septum or nasal polyps. By their very nature they are a temporary fix, best suited to a temporary condition.
If your snoring does not come from your nose, then snoring nasal strips can provide no help for you. They will not have any effect on snoring that comes from the soft tissue in the back of the throat.
If you snore heavily, even if it is through the nose, then snoring nasal strips will probably have almost no effect. They work best for moderate snoring.
